TF-400 QwikPak, the solution that smartly combines the advantages of pouches and bottles!
FILM UNWINDING AND FEEDING STATION
The film is automatically unwound from a single web of plastic material that is subsequently folded into a V-shape prior to entering the thermoforming area.
The film web is fed through the machine thanks to a combination of pneumatic and electronic grippers.
An optic device is available to register the printing on both the front and the back of the container.
Thanks to the use of a single folded web, a plastic material of adequate thickness can allow the production of stand-up containers.
SPOUTING & THERMOFORMING STATIONS
After folding, the film enters the thermoforming area where a sequences of operations take place: the pre-heating of the film, the application and the sealing of the spout, the sealing of the container’s profile and finally the blowing of compressed air through the spout to perform the container’s thermoforming. The TF-400 has a thermoforming area whose width can vary between 350 and 400 mm, while the height can range between 100 and 200 mm.
THE FILLING STATION
Once the spout is applied and sealed and the cavities are thermoformed, the continuous strip reaches the filling area where a dedicated dosing unit provides the through-the-spout filling of the product inside the cavities. A range of filling units is available based on product characteristics and to specific dosing requirements and the filling range varies between 50 and 500ml. Multiple-steps filling is also available in case of large volumes or foamy products.
Besides standard volumetric units for liquid or semi-dense products, magnetic fillers are also available to offer the best filling accuracy and highest hygienic conditions.
Servo-assisted fillers for products with varying densities / viscosities and mass flow-meters are also available for specific applications.
All filling units are made of AISI 304 Stainless Steel with contact parts made of 316L.
After filling, the strip of spouted and filled containers is taken to the capping unit where a dedicated fully automatic system provides the application of a cap.
Caps can be of different type such as a screw-type, push-pull type, flip-top type and break-off type.
The capping station can also be excluded in case a specific application requires the container to be provided with a snap-off opening, similar to those typical of the standard Unifill monodose.
If the application requires it, an Aluminum lid can be applied on the spout prior to cap application.
FINAL SHAPE CUTTING STATION
The strip of filled and capped containers is now taken through a buffer unit into the final cutting station where the containers are individually shaped cut.
A MODULAR MULTI-PURPOSE SOLUTION
Thanks to its modular concept, the machine can be supplied into two different configurations.
As a matter of fact, while the complete version is suitable for the delivery of filled and capped containers, a smaller version – denominated TF-400/SE – is suitable for the production of empty spouted containers that can be later filled and capped on conventional systems.
In such version, the filling and the capping station are not supplied while the buffer and the final cutting station is positioned right after the thermoforming station.
The TF-400 machine can be fit with a number of options to include fully automatic spout applicator, jacketed tank for hot filling, fully automatic cap applicator, ink-jet printing system.
An “Ultra Clean Package” is also available to include sterile air thermoforming, inert gas flushing, magnetic filler, laminar flow with HEPA filter.
IDEAL APPLICATIONS & PACKAGING MATERIALS
The QwikPaks produced on the TF-400 machine are flexible shaped containers that smartly combine the advantages of pouches and bottles. The QwikPaks can have volumes ranging between 50 and 500ml and are ideal for a number of food applications such as drink water, on-the-go products, probiotic products, sport products, etc. as well as for non-food applications such as detergents, household products, personal care products etc...
The TF-400 can use a wide range of laminated and/or co-extruded packaging material that, depending on the application, can be PA/PE, PET/PE, PVC/PE, PS/PE, PP etc., with a thickness range between 200 and 600 micron.
Special barrier materials such as EVOH or PVDC can also be used to improve barrier properties and to better preserve products characteristics.
