Based on a project developed by the main world experts in suppository packing technology, the RESNOVA is a new generation, fully automatic thermoform fill & seal machine suitable for the production of pharmaceutical suppositories and ovules.
Using the latest technologies and complying with the highest pharmaceutical manufacturing standards, the RESNOVA machine represents the ideal answer to an always growing demand for efficient, flexible and reliable suppositories packing operations.
The machine has fully electronic controls and is available in two versions: for medium outputs (RESNOVA 15 up to 22.000 units/h) and for high speed outputs (RESNOVA 35 up to 35.000 units/h).
The RESNOVA machines feature unique solutions and patented features such as PVC-ALU-PVC change-over in 2 hours, no top trimming required, automatic TIP unit, easy adapting to every material, high efficiency cooling units, etc.

FILM UNWINDING AND FEEDING STATION
The fully automatic film unwinding unit, located in a closed cabin, features a special device that allows replacement of the two film reels without production stops. Dedicated sensors detect when the film reel is close to ending and send a signal to the unwinding shafts to accelerate their rotation and to consequently release a given quantity of film into special accumulation boxes. This accumulated material gives the operator enough time to replace the reels without stopping the machine (only for PVC). A special optical device located at the machine end, will automatically eject the portion of strip containing the splice.
The thermoforming area features all tooling sets-including pre-heating, sealing and forming stations-mounted on easily accessible hinged supports that make servicing and change-over operations extremely simple and quick. Thanks to the interlock system, the moulds can be secured to and released from the supports within seconds, without requiring any special tool. Thanks to the brushless motor drive as well as the shifting stations, the RESNOVA machines can perfectly adapt to the characteristics of different packing materials. Any adjustment can be achieved and visualised through the PLC soft-touch screen. A special MICROHOLES DETECTING SYSTEM (optional) located in the thermoforming mould allows the detection of defects in the packaging material. If microholes are detected, the defective portion of strip will not be filled and will be automatically ejected at the machine end.
The thermoformed cavities now reach the dosing station to be filled with the suppository mass. A special volumetric filling head unit made entirely in AISI 316L Stainless Steel provides for dosing of the product with volumes ranging from 0,5 to 4 ml. The dosing unit is supplied with a product containing tank with CIP connections and a variable-speed stirrer. A special OFF-LINE DOSING CHECK (optional) can be obtained either manually or preset from the PLC. This system provides forward shifting of the dosing head that will perform an off-line dosing, thus allowing the operator to constantly check the dosing accuracy.
After filling, the strip is conveyed into the machine cooling unit that will provide the hardening of the suppository mass prior to neck sealing operations. Depending on the model – RESNOVA 15 for outputs up to 15.000 pcs/h and RESNOVA 35 for outputs up to 35.000 pcs/h – the machine can be equipped with one, two or three cooling stations. These new geneartion conditioning & cooling units, featuring over 350 air-holes each and a special strip dragging unit, offer ideal distribution of the cooling air under conditions.
TOP SEALING AND FINAL CUTTING STATION
After cooling operations, the continuous strip is conveyed through a progressive sealing system that provides the pre-heating, the sealing and the cooling of the cavity necks. Once the container necks are sealed, the strip is taken through the final TIP cutting station.
TIP 106 UNIT
The Resnova machines features a specially designed TIP 106 unit suitable for the cutting, orientating, counting and stacking the suppositories strips for an ideal connection to a downstream cartoning machine. In the TIP 106 unit, the pre-cut separation among the suppositories and the strip cutting is achieved at the same time, thus eliminating the unpleasant scraps at strip ends. In conventional system, such scraps are almost inevitable as pre-cut and strip cutting operations are carried out in different steps.
The RESNOVA machines are designed for alternative use, with plastic and aluminium based materials. Thanks to the RESNOVA ALU KIT – which can be purchased together with the machine as an option – a complete, change-over operation from Plastic to Alu, or viceversa, only takes two hours.
Besides those already mentioned, a number of other options are available to increase performances, such as peristaltic pump, product temperature probe on filling pump as well as on product tank, trim aspiration unit, print registration unit, dry coding system, etc A unique microhole detecting system for ALU material is also available (UNIFILL patent).
